Organization of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture
According to the federal constitution, professional representation of the agricultural and forestry sector falls under the jurisdiction of the regional governments. Therefore, no national chamber comparable to the federal economic chamber or the chamber of labour exists for agriculture and forestry.
In accordance with federal law, each of Austria's nine federal regions (Bundesländer) have chambers of agriculture. The umbrella organization of these regional bodies is the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture (Landwirtschaftskammer Österreichs).
The main purpose of this association is to form a "centralized organization of the Austrian chambers of agriculture."
The Austrian Chamber of Agriculture has its head office in Vienna. However, its activities extend to all of Austria. Its members include the nine regional chambers of agriculture and the Austrian Raiffeisen Association, the umbrella organization for the entire Raiffeisen cooperative.
The association's purpose is to improve the overall situation of the agriculture and forestry sectors, and represent their joint interests.
